Yesterday our kids were all out of school for a Teacher work day.. Anthony got up early and did a few things that he had to do, then came home to move the boat and clean out his truck… (this was about noon)
I have been asking him to pull out the boat for some time now. Marissa bike was stuck behind it and she really wanted to ride it.. Not to mention I really needed to clean the Garage and put things up in the storage area so we could walk in and through there…
While Anthony was cleaning out his Truck I got a chair and sat with him watching and talking to him when our friendly neighbor came over to see what we where up to..
He asked if we where ever going to be able to take the boat out again.. ( he was one of many who thought it silly of us to buy a boat). I told him I would have loved to take it out last weekend, but Anthony was working and no money for gas..
Anthony then said “Jen, there is still almost a full tank of gas in there from the last time we took it out”.
So I said, lets take the kids out on it right now than… Anthony was on board for it, hey it beat cleaning out the Garage (something I will be doing today).
We drove just near the Antioch Bridge and lunched there.. We wanted to drive over by the Benicia bridge to show the kids the BIG boats out there… HOwever we never made it there..
By the time I picked Aubrey up from preschool, Ava up from her friend’s house and ran to the bank (my afternoon errands) We didn’t get out there until almost 3.. We only had about two hours before the sun went down..
So Anthony drives us to a the safest place to go with out 1 running out of gas & 2 getting lost or stuck in the Delta after dark.. We don’t have lights on our boat. something we WILL be getting now in case of and emergency.
Anthony let me drive back to our car.. All is good, then I say to him it’s getting really shallow right here . WE went from 4 feet to all of a sudden all the kids falling out of their chairs including Anthony flying to the front of the boat Stuck…
I don’t remember what they are called what we hit, but basically like an underwater island… We where totally stuck.. We took the skies to see how deep were wore.. Maybe 1 foot..
Anthony gave up at the point and said we had to wait for the tide to come in.. I am not a sit and wait kind of girl (if anyone knows me). So I try & try to push the boat off with the skies.. (that water was freezing cold) Anthony made me promise I won’t get in the water after I was taking off my shoes and pulling up my paints.. HE said there was no way we I could push us out..
So I said, we really need to say a prayer here. I offered it knowing that the lord could and would help. He didn’t want us sleeping out here tonight..
That got Anthony in the water with me.. We tried to push it the way it came in.. IT didn’t work..
Got back in screaming with our feet just about frozen off.. Then we sat again, and we all said small prayers in out hearts.. Devun said he wanted to help, I was against it at first. Anthony said he was old enough to help so him and I got on one side to try to left it. For some reason We where pushing towards Anthony but the boat was moving towards us??
We got into the boat again, only being able to handle the cold for a few moments before being in so much pain..
This time we know what we had to do, and all the other kids wanted to help.. We only allowed the 8 and up.. Anthony offered a prayer this time, and we all jumped off the back of the boat at the same time, and pushed.. IT was moving, we knew we had help. It went from being SO HARD to just moving… I told the kids keep going guys we have angels helping us.. (devun climbed back on the boat in pain, while we all yelled at him to get off and help) and then within seconds Anthony told us to jump back on.. We went from 1 foot to 13 feet in seconds..
We all sat down and said a prayer of thanks.. We also asked that the boat would start.. We have one that sucks stuff up and pushes the water out, and we where not sure if the boat would start or not..
It started and i went a head and let Anthony drive the rest of the way home..
I was looking for an adventure and we pretty much got one..
On our drive we saw sea lions.. Birds and boats.
Sammy was very worried because a sea-lion was on one of the floating things all by himself.. He said “mommy where are hes friends”? The other two places we saw had two or more on one floating thing.. (Sorry I can’t think this morning at all, must have been the lack of sleep last night)..
We got back into the car, and said another prayer thanking the lord for getting us there safely.. At this point with all the pushing and pulling I couldn’t even get off the boat.. WHich was another thing, I was able to help Anthony and not feel any pain.. But I was now.. The babies head was and still in right in my pelvic bone.. I thought she was falling out, other than my cervix is still closed..
When we got in the car I asked the kids what the best part of the trip was… I reminded them that we worked as a family and we able to get out of a problem and the lord is always there to help!
Marissa and Zack’s favorite part was helping and getting into the water.. Then when I asked Sam, think he would say the sea lions or birds.. Marissa reminded him “did you like it when mom through you and dad from your seat”.
Then Anthony told me, he first thought I hit the brakes and had to rethink.. Hey the boat doesn’t have breaks..
This is how it happened.. Babe, it is really shallow right here.. I slowed down then next thing all the kids are at out feet.. Looking back we ALL started to laugh so hard that I pee’d my paints..
The best part of the whole trip was , we didn’t fight. Anthony wasn’t mad at me for driving up on that thing, the kids didn’t get scared. In fact, the younger kids though it was funny and liked hanging out in the middle of the water.. The sun at broke through and we where all warm and happy..
It was a great Family Home Evening listen..
